Automatic external defibrillator is a portable, easy to operate, and proficient in use with a little training. It is designed specifically for on-site first aid. In a sense, AED is not only a first aid device, but also a new concept of first aid, which is the earliest concept of effective first aid by on-site witnesses. It is different from traditional defibrillators that can be analyzed and determined by a built-in computer to determine whether the patient needs to undergo electric defibrillation. During the defibrillation process, AED's voice prompts and screen animation operation prompts make the operation more convenient and feasible. For most people, automatic external defibrillators can be operated with just a few hours of training. The American Heart Association (AHA) believes that learning to use AED is simpler than learning cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

Note: Although the use of AEDs is very convenient, most of them are "foolproof" machines, the configuration of defibrillators in certain public places in China is not equivalent to the automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) introduced in this entry. They are medical defibrillators and are not yet allowed to be used by untrained non professionals. Attention must be paid to distinguishing when using.
